Our journey towards a global unified data platform

Countless data tools pop up every day, designed to handle an ever-growing variety of data-related tasks. As an organization grows, they inevitably have to deal with data siloes, redundancies, and potential mistrust in their data estate. In this session, we will explore how our organization utilized Fabric to unify, align, transition from, and co-exist with a multitude of data platforms across its multinational divisions – and hopefully inspire you on how you can do so in your organization.

A multinational FCMG manufacturer known for household brands, needed a platform to easily migrate, connect, or integrate with a multitude of sources, platforms, and data consumers. They needed a unified platform that would seamlessly facilitate the acquisition and integration of new branches in the future.

In this session, we will delve into a practical case study on the design and implementation of Microsoft Fabric. We’ll examine how to architect a global unifying Data Platform Fabric suitable for multiple organizations, highlight best-practice patterns, and discuss the integration of a data-product mindset with effective governance strategies.

After this session, you’ll gain a personal understanding of Fabric’s unifying capabilities and see how its core principles enable smooth integration with other data tools. You’ll also discover useful strategies and learn from past challenges, helping you consider how you might approach similar endeavors.

As a Principal Architect at Fellowmind he works with building up clients’ data capabilities, implementing data platform technologies and all-in-all maximize the impact of their their data.

Being a Microsoft Data Platform MVP, he is very passionate about sharing anything with community, especially something around turning data into impact!

With a background in Product Development and Innovation, Mathias brings a unique ‘Data Product’ perspective to the realm of data architecture, and is obsessed with the bigger picture. With his slightly rebellious attitude, he’s not afraid to challenge the status quo and break industry norms to find new and better solutions.

Sarath Sasidharan is a Senior Program Manager at Microsoft. He leverages his expertise in Fabric, Azure, and data architecture to help customers in the EMEA region overcome critical challenges and achieve their business goals. He has over 14 years of experience in designing, building, and monitoring data solutions that span integration, preparation, analytics, and reporting layers for various industries and domains.

Sarath is passionate about enabling organizations to generate value from their data and empowering them with next-generation data and AI capabilities. Sarath also contributes to the community by speaking at internal and external events and sharing insights and guidance on data strategy, governance, and architecture both within Microsoft Fabric and beyond.
