Sessions & Speakers

We will have amazing speakers lined-up for this Edition.

Building a Self-Serve Data Platform in Fabric
Speakers: Robin Meulenbrugge and Frank Stapel

In this session, we’ll share our experiences from the past three months, during which we started developing a self-service data platform in Fabric. This platform plays a crucial role in our transition from a centralized data estate to a decentralized data mesh architecture.

We’ll discuss the drivers, approach, implemented capabilities, and lessons learned, while also highlighting the challenges we faced and the choices we made. Our goal is to spark an engaging discussion, both during and after the session.

MVP Achievements:
✅ Workspace Provisioning – Fully automated using YAML, ADO pipelines (including validations), Terraform, and Fabric REST APIs.
✅ Source Ingestion – Configurable via YAML and ADO pipelines, supported by a central ingest framework that makes data accessible via shortcuts in data product workspaces.
✅ Monitoring – Implementation of event streams and an activator that automatically notifies responsible individuals in case of errors.

Current Focus:
🔹 Data Contracts – To manage and ensure data integrity when data moves beyond a data product team’s knowledge domain.
🔹 Standardizing Data Product Development – Proof of concept using dbt Core as a scalable alternative to the current thousands of uSPs.
🔹 Marketplace – A central hub where data products are published, discovered, and shared across the organization.

This session will provide valuable insights into our approach and the challenges we encountered while building a self-service data platform. We look forward to exchanging experiences and engaging in meaningful discussions!

Fabric Adoption Roadmap: Lessons from Napoleon Bonaparte
Speakers: Jo David

Join us for an engaging session where the transformative journey of adopting Microsoft Fabric is paralleled with the rise and fall of one of history’s most iconic figures: Napoleon Bonaparte. Through this lens, we’ll explore effective strategies for driving organizational change, identifying best practices that lead to sustained success, and avoiding pitfalls that can derail even the most ambitious initiatives. This thought-provoking session will equip you with actionable insights to lead your team’s Fabric adoption with confidence and foresight.

As always, we’re looking for speakers. So, if you have an interesting story to share, please submit your session to our call for speakers. If you’re a first-time speaker, don’t worry! We are more than happy to help you taking your first steps in the wonderful world of public speaking. Also, for all sessions submitted and not selected, we will keep a list of all sessions for future events.
